PUIVERT VILLAGE WITH GREAT TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Situated in the Aude, the very heart of Cathar country, Puivert is the ideal place for families to take in the fresh air and enjoy the summer activities, the lake and the beach, far away from traffic jams, crowds and excessive prices. Overlooked by its Cathar castle, this little village is on the GR7 long distance footpath and the Cathar Trail.  Besides the ramblers, a large number of tourists can be accommodated either in the campsite, or in self-catering cottages (gites) or in bed and breakfast establishments (chambresd’hotes).Numerous sporting activities are on offer as well as major events such as the fireworks display, the International Festival of Medieval String Instrument Making (Festival International de LutherieMedievale) and the pilgrimage from the Chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours.  There is a choice of 5 different restaurants to suit your taste and means, and you can make use of the grocery shop in the village.  Finally the close proximity of a great number of medieval villages, Cathar castles and tourist sites provides for excellent tourist or cultural walks.

Every Wednesday during July and August, either under the Halle or at the lakeside, you can enjoy the night markets, various activities and eating out.
